Pete is adept on just about any instrument with strings, but is most noted for his mastery of the Rickenbacker 12-string. Ask him to tell you the story of how Roger McGuinn taught him how to get that distinctive Byrds-ian jangle, which is one of the defining sounds on Oblivious. Pete also reaches deep into his bag of tricks to provide some trippy guitar atmospherics and very noir-ish baritone guitar licks for the record.

Pete and Maura are also well-known proponents (and shining examples) of the grass roots folk ethic, and they often help to develop emerging artists in their Virginia-based Maple Ridge Studio. They are also two of the most enthusiastic and knowledgeable aficianados of vintage and used clothing that you're likely to find. It is quite possible they have at least set foot in EVERY Salvation Army store in the U.S.

Good morning groovy...that's not only the title of a Pete Kennedy song - it's his way of life. Groovyness abounds when this cat is around. Pete is an accomplished guitarist and an award-winning songwriter, but when asked what he does, he will more readily identify himself as one-half of the renowned folk group The Kennedys. This triple-threat husband and wife duo (both write, sing, and play guitar) has a number of releases to their name, and they tirelessly traverse the country whilst playing to their sizeable and devoted audience. Pete and Maura honed their skills backing up folk legend Nanci Griffith, but Pete has also made his mark as a solo artist and instrumentalist (he even studied with Jazz giant Joe Pass).
